It was an answer to the city shutting down some people who were feeding the homeless. The city pointed to an ordinance that said these folks need a permit, even though they had been feeding the homeless with home cooked food for two years.

Many, including local businessman Alex Scarborough, felt that the city had overstepped their bounds.

Scarborough came up with the idea of having a potluck dinner in the park, asking Lubbockites and the homeless, to gather for a meal of homemade food.

The potluck dinner took place tonight at the Overton Park with several hundred people showing up.

Isn't this what it is all about. People helping out their fellow man. We do not need anymore regulations from city government.
