This past Sunday was "autism awareness " day at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park. It was an effort to show people what these kid "can" do, not what they "can't" do.

Texas Tech baseball head coach Dan Spencer has two sons that are autistic. He spoke before the game. His son Wade was standing beside him and coach Spencer was proud to point out that Wade has a 3.9 GPA at Coronado High School.

Another special moment on Sunday was 9 year old Grant Taylor. He sang the National Anthem before the game. Grant has Asperger's which is a high functioning form of autism.

People with Asperger's usually have hard time socializing with others and very awkward in social situations. So see Grant sing the anthem in front of a bunch of people was pretty cool.

Now get this, he takes voice lessons at Terri Caldwell's Music of the Cactus Theater.

It was my pleasure to introduce him at the game.
