With the holiday season upon us and only so much time to get everywhere and do everything, we are rounding up five of the top must-do Christmas events in Lubbock this holiday season.

    Santa Land

    This magical Christmas adventure really gets the season into full festive gear. Admission is free and it's open December 10-23 from 6-10 p.m. at Mackenzie Park, just east of Avenue A and the South Plains Fairgrounds. Come see Santa and Mrs. Claus in this wonderful holiday village. See the beautiful new 50-foot Christmas tree, adorned with ornaments for the first time ever.     West Texas Polar Express

    The Polar Express is a wonderful adventure to the North Pole, a train ride not to be missed. It's dancing chefs, singing elves and wonderful gifts from Santa Claus. It's a Lubbock holiday tradition. The train departs from Wolfforth. Check out their website to purchase tickets.

    Carol of Lights

    This is the 58th Annual Carol of Lights and it's a spectacular display. A well-attended and popular Lubbock/Texas Tech University tradition. It's 25,000 colorful holiday lights that illuminate 18 buildings on the Texas Tech University campus. They are on display beginning with the lighting ceremony December 2 through the end of the year. [More information on the Carol of Lights]

    Cactus Family Christmas Celebration

    This is a very special holiday concert, a tradition for many years. Expect a Christmas spectacular on stage, featuring both traditional and contemporary holiday favorites.

    You'll want to get your tickets early. There are only four performances this year, and they're expected to sell out quickly. The first event is Friday, December 9 at 7:30 p.m. Find more information at their website.

    Candlelight At The Ranch

    Enjoy what is called a "living Christmas card" from 6:30 - 9 p.m. on December 9 and 10. It's the 38th Annual Candlelight at the Ranch.

    You can step back in time and find yourself having Christmas in the Old West.

    Beautifully illuminated by 4,000 luminaries with volunteer hosts on the ranch dressed in the style of the 19th century. Take a trip into history this Christmas on the Ranch.
