[Updated at 6 p.m.] KAMC news reports that the story of the ladle inciting the fight is not true. After talking to members of the family this has been confirmed false. The reason behind the altercation has yet to be released.

[Updated at 4:30 p.m.] The name of one of the victims and the relationship between him and the other victim/suspect have been released.

Thirty-two-year-old David Castro and his uncle began to argue after Castro apparently took a ladle from the deceased grandfather's home. He returned the ladle to his uncle, who began to beat him with it.

The Lubbock Police Department says that Castro then pulled a handgun from his waistband and shot his uncle in the chest. Castro's uncle wrestled the gun away from Castro and shot him in the stomach.

Both were taken by EMS to University Medical Canter where they remain.

[Original story] Lubbock police were called to the Casa Capelli Salon in the 2700 block of Boston Avenue around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday after a report of shots fired.

KAMC News reports the incident was a family feud between an uncle and nephew.

Police arrived on the scene to find both men had been shot, one in the chest and one in the abdomen. Each suffered life-threatening injuries.

Speculation is that the dispute started over property of sentimental value.

At this time, Lubbock police have not concluded who fired the first shot or had the firearm.

The nephew has been listed as in serious condition. No update has been made to the uncle's status.

Police continue to investigate.
